A country is ethnically the same. Example: Japan
Nation-state
A government that isn’t really a government at all. Or no one is in charge.
Anarchy
This person holds total control over the country.
Absolute Monarchy
This person holds some power but this power is restricted by a document. Example: England
Constitutional Monarchy
This person shares no power with other Athourites. Example: North Korea
Dictatorship
A group of people who control the country, make laws, and keep order.
Government
A small group of people is in charge. Example: Saudi Arabia
Oligarchy
This is where the people get an equal vote in important decisions. Example: when four friends vote on where to go for dinner.
Direct Democracy
This is where the people get to vote on representatives to make decisions that the person that voted for them wants.
Indirect democracy
The power is given to the people. (the citizens of the nation.)
Democracy
A government run by religious doctrine.
Theocracy
Vote for someone to represent us in government. Example: US
Republic
What are the roles of government?
To make and enforce laws, protect people and to provide public services.
What three powers do all governments have?
Make laws, enforce laws and Judiciary power. (alter laws.)
One political party is in power and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
