A nation of people have a country of their own. Example: France, Japan, Egypt.
Nation-state
The dictator is the sole ruler over their people.
Example: North Korea, Germany
Dictatorship
Technically not a government, because no one is in charge.
Anarchy
The people vote for their leader. Example: Mexico, Indonesia
Republic
The power is given to the people. Example: Norway, Iceland
Democracy
Every citizen is given an equal vote on the government and, together, make all the decisions.
Direct democracy
Citizens elect lawmakers to represent their interests in the government.
Indirect democracy
A government run by religious doctrine Example: The Pope
Theocracy
A small group of people is in charge of the country.
Oligarchy
The monarch has complete control over the country
Absolute Monarchy
When the monarchy holds some power, but it’s restricted by a constitution.
Constitutional Monarchy
A group of people who control the country, keep order, and make laws

What are the roles of Government?
To make and enforce laws, protect people and to provide public services.
What three powers do all governments have?
Make laws, enforce laws, and judiciary power.
One political party is in power, and people are forced to do what the government tells them.
