Who/what is a governor general?
They are a part of the legeslative branch and helps the goverment. The governor general of Canada is the federal representative of the Canadian monarch, currently King Charles III.
Who/what is the head of state?
The head of state is the King/Queen or the royal assiant.
What are Members of Parliament?
They are also known as an MP and voted in by riddings
What are senators?
They are a person who is in the senate, are appointed by the goverment and tipically agrees with the house
What is a party whip?
This is a person whos job is to go around a goverment party and make ssure that everyone is voting the same in the house.
Who/what is the speaker of the house?
This is the speacker of the House of Commons. They are elected by the Prime Minister and they run the parlinmet and question periods. Bassically they are the repersentative of the goverment.
What is the constitution and what is its purpose?
This is a document that sets out the rules for canadian goverment and is important to keep Canada safe and make sure there are set out lines that can not be crossed.
How does our voting system work?
Our country isdivided up into riddings, which are areas of the country. these areas then each vote for one MP, and they are based on popultion. When voting the winner of the ridding gets one seat in the house of commons. It is a game of winner take all and its based on who has the most total votes leading to he most seats.
How is the government is chosen?
Whichever political party gets the most seats in the house of commons at the end of all the ridding will win and chose a repersentitive (AKA the Prime Minister).
What is the cabinet is and how does it work?
They are a part of the legeslative branch. The Canadian Ministry is commonly referred to as Cabinet. It is the body of ministerial advisors that sets the federal government’s policies and priorities for the country.
What is a backbencher?
A Member of Parliament who does not hold office in the government or opposition and who sits behind the front benches in the House of Commons.
What is the Legeslative branch?
This branch makes laws, and has elected/appointed mebers who become local repersentitives. This branch includes MP, and senators.
What is the Judgical branch?
This branch inturprets laws and enforce the laws. This includes Supreme Court, Lower Court, and Judges.
What is the Executive branch?
This branch is responsible for putting laws into actions and proposing laws. This includes the Head of State, Goverment General, Prime Minister, and the cabinet.
