Radiographic features of CPPD
Remember the aka for CPPD = Chondrocalcinosis, which means cartilage calcification.
Therefore, if cartilage is hyaline the calcification is thin, linear & continuous.
And if the cartilage is fibrous (ie Fibrocartilage), the calcification is thick, irregular, shaggy & poorly defined.

Radiographic Features of Gout
- Soft tissue swelling & calcifications
- Increase jt space opacities due to Na-Urate crystals
- Joint space and bone density preservation (until late stage disease)
- Bone Erosions
Types of bone erosions - Gout
- Marginal erosions - d/t pannus
- Periarticular erosions - metaphysis or diaphysis
- Intra-osseous erosions - tophi accumulation within bone is visible & well circumscribed = oval or round lucencies.
