    a. Annas- officer of the court strikes Jesus with an open hand.
    b. Caiaphas- evidence was needed of a capital charge at least 2 witnesses but no two could agree.
    c. Sanhedrin - in their estimation Christ was guilty of the sin of blasphemy, according to the Levitical law, was a capital crime to be punished by death
  2. Roman/ political
    a. Pilate- 3 charges: perverting the nation, forbidding to pay taxes, saying He is a king.
    b. Herod- declared Jesus innocent
    c. Pilate - Pilate and Herod 5 times declared Christ innocent of the charges. But afraid of being accused before Caesar and fearful of inciting the Jews to riot, Pilate sought to absolve himself of all responsibility for his decision.
