Good vs Evil Flashcards
Through Macbeth, Shakespeare shows the audience that evil can
infiltrate the noble and loyal - if they give in to their ‘black desires’
Shakespeare uses physical battles in the play to represent the
ultimate battle between good and evil
Shakespeare represents evil in different ways according to gender:
Macbeth can be violent; Lady Macbeth can be manipulative
Throughout the play, stability is shown to
rest on the natural balance between good and evil.
What he hath lost
noble Macbeth hath won
Stars, hide your fires; Let not
light see my black and deep desires
He was a gentleman on whom i
built an absolute trust on
This tyrant, whose sole name blisters
our tongues, was once thought honest
When the battles
lost and won
And to conclude,
The victory fell on us
Let us rather,
Hold fast the mortal sword
And to conclude,
The victory fell on us
Be this the whestone of your sword:
let grief convert to anger
he unseam’d him from
the nave to the chaps
Wouldst thou have that, Which thou esteem’st the ornament of life,
And live a coward in thine own esteem
