MMT flexion –> pt position
seated on the edge of the table
hands will be placed on the table next to their pelvis
good posture
MMT flexion test
take through PROM
“can you lift your thigh off the table towards the ceiling?”
ask them to bring it up again
apply resistance at distal femur
MMT flexion gravity min
side lying
cradle their leg (w/ knee flexed) in one hand and stabilize the pelvis with the other
support leg through PROM
support leg through AROM
apply resistance to anterior distal thigh
can get a 2 or 2+
MMT flexion subs
leaning trunk
ABD the thigh
excessive knee flexion
IR/ER
flexion, ABD, ER, w/ knee flexion muscles
Sartorius
flexion, ABD, ER, w/ knee flexion pt position
sitting at the edge of the table
hands placed next to pelvis
good posture
flexion, ABD, ER, w/ knee flexion MMT test
go through PROM
AROM: “ can you bring your leg up towards the ceiling and out”
AROM again
apply resistance at the thigh and try to push back into ADD & ext
other hand applies resistance at the posterior tib/fib to push pt into IR & knee ext
flexion, ABD, ER, w/ knee flexion gravity min
supine
place foot of the leg you’re testing onto the opposite shin
PROM
AROM: “ can you slide your foot up your shin right to your knee?”
guard/ support the lateral side of the leg (stand on testing side)
any motion is a 2
flexion, ABD, ER, w/ knee flexion subs
hip flexion
extension MMT muscles
glutes
hamstrings
extension MMT pt position
prone w/ legs straight
can put pillow under stomach
extension MMT Test
stabilize the pelvis for PROM and lift at distal thigh above patella
AROM: can you repeat that motion
apply resistance right above the ankle
extension MMT –> isolate the glutes
prone w/ knee flexed
stabilize the pelvis and lift the distal thigh
apply resistance @ distal thigh
extension MMT gravity min
side lying
cradle their leg w/ knee extended and stabilize their pelvis
support their leg as they move through hip extension
use supporting forearm to place resistance
can get a 2 or 2+
extension MMT subs
pelvis and trunk rotation
