2) Research the topic to determine the best practices
3) Consider all applicable directives and or agreements
4) Draft the GO
5) Submit the draft to appropriate subject matter experts within and outside the Department.
6) Revise the original draft if necessary
7) Submit the draft to the Office of the Legal Advisor to ensure compliance with the law.
8) Revise the draft into the finalized GO.
9) Submit the finalized GO to the Chief of Police for review and approval
Where do Student Officers receive their GO manuals?
-the Training Academy
Where do Civilian employees receive their GO manuals?
-at the PGPD New Employee Orientation and Training session

Where may employees submit suggestions for revisions to the GOM?

- Yes.
- To ensure that the GOM contains best practices and the most up-to-date information, any employee may contact the Planning and Research Division directly to report errors or obsolete material,
Who compiles and distributes Specific Order Manuals? Where are they kept?
- Planning and Research Division
- They are kept at each District and Division as a reference for personnel assigned there
When a component makes changes to their SOP, what shall be done?
-It shall be forwarded to Planning and Research Division for approval by the Chief of Police. Once approved, the signed original shall be kept at Planning and Research Division, a copy forwarded to the submitting component, and a copy submitted to each District and Division for inclusion in their SOM.
What are Chief’s Special Orders?
- Internal policies and directives that are expected to be limited in duration and not appropriate for inclusion in the GOM or SOM.
- Policies and directives tht are applicable to both the Department and other components of Local, State or Federal Govt’s.
How are the Chief’s Special Order’s released, tracked, and archived?
- Released through Planning and Research Division
- Tracked and Archived by:
a) the year in which they were implemented
b) the order in which they were promulgated
Why was the Departmental Policy System established?
-To ensure that the governing policies of the Department are readily accessible, concisely stated, and current.
