The mission of the CAB is to provide the Commissioner objective, community-based input regarding issues of significance to optimize accountability and objectivity. Citizen advisory boards play an important role in strengthening community trust in law enforcement by providing neutral third party insight and a productive exchange of ideas.

The CAB is to serve as an advisory body to the Commissioner with the primary purpose of providing objective review and input concerning departmental policies, procedures, training, reporting, and controls to determine consistency with the demands of public safety as well as legal, moral, and public expectations.
