GMAT-Triangle definitions Flashcards
Height
A perpendicular line from the highest point of a triangle to its base.
Isosceles Triangle
A triangle that has two equal sides and two equal angles.
Equilateral Triangle
A triangle that has three equal sides and three equal angles, each angle measuring 60
degrees.
Right Triangle
A triangle that has a ninety-degree angle.
Similar Triangles
Two triangles with equal angle measurements and proportional sides.
Area
1/2 * (base) *(height)
Sides
Equal sides are across from equal angles. Largest side is
across from the largest angle.
Angles
Must total 180 inside. Equal angles are across from equal
sides.
Hypotenuse
The side opposite from the right angle in a right triangle.
