Hip abduction; anterior fibers IR and flex hip but posterior fibers ER and extend hip.
Also keeps contralateral pelvis level when in ipsilateral weightbearing.
Gluteal Muscle - Medius action
Hip abduction; anterior fibers IR and flex hip but posterior fibers ER and extend hip.
Also keeps contralateral pelvis level when in ipsilateral weightbearing.
Piriformis peripheral
nerve to piriformis
Piriformis action
When hip is extended: hip ER; when hip is flexed: hip abduction. Stabilty to hip joint.
Obturator internus peripheral
Nerve to Obturator Internis and Gemellus superior
Obturator internus action
When hip is extended: hip ER; when hip is flexed: hip abduction. Stabilty to hip joint.
Superior Gemellus peripheral
Nerve to Obturator Internis and Gemellus superior
Superior Gemellus action
When hip is extended: hip ER; when hip is flexed: hip abduction. Stabilty to hip joint.
Inferior Gemellus peripheral
Nerve to Quadratus femoris and Gemellus inferior
