hypoglycemia , where;
- No iv access
- unable to swallow glucose or food

1Mg IM
Glucagon dose for child less than 5years
0.5mg IM
What steps for drawing up and adminstering Glucagon
- Drug check the vial with partner
- push the contents of the glass syringe into the powder vial
- shake the vial with syringe attached
- withdraw the dose back into syringe
- swab the lateral thigh or lateral upper arm
- perform IM adminstration
- discard the entire syringe and needle with out re capping
- Document time and drug

Laterla thigh

- patient not eaten more than 12 hours
- suffering fromn adrenal insufficiency
- chronic hypoglycemia
- alcohol induced hypoglycemia

what affect does Glucagon have on the tone and motility of GI smooth muscle
reduces the tone - not recommend in oesophageal obstruction
