Consumer
Audience members who choose and use media products
Citizen
members of the public who may be exposed to media but are not engaging with them or choosing to consume them
Funding
the way that a company gets their money license fee
Intertextual references
References to other media texts within the programme such as bake off
Mainstream audience
a text has a wide appeal and would appeal to the majority or a large range of consumer
niche audience
a minority of people who would be interested in a programme or media text
OFCOM
Regulating body which regulates TV and radio and ensures that content is impartial, accurate and suitable for viewers
Podcast
a digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device
PSB
an audio form of media which is portable
Radio
an audio form of media which is portable
Scheduling
the time a programme is on, what is on either side of it, which channel its on.
Spectator
An individual member of the audience with a personal response tot he media text
Target audience
The group of people that a programme is aimes at
Watershed
9am - the time at which broadcasting rules change and more adult content is allowed to be shown
