Abduction
The movement of a body part away from the midline or another reference point.
Adduction
The movement of a body part toward the midline or another reference point.
Antagonist
A muscle that opposes the action of another muscle (agonist) in a joint.
Agonist
A muscle that is primarily responsible for a specific movement or action.
Axial Skeleton
The central framework of the skeletal system, consisting of the skull, vertebral column, and ribcage.
Circulation
The movement of blood through the heart and blood vessels, distributing nutrients and oxygen to the body’s tissues.
Connective Tissue
A type of tissue that provides support, structure, and connection between different tissues and organs.
Fibrous Tissue
Tissue composed of tough, strong fibers that provide strength and support to various structures in the body.
Muscular Tissue
Tissue responsible for movement by contracting and relaxing, including skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscles.
Organ
A structure composed of different tissues working together to perform specific functions in the body.
Oxygenated
Refers to blood or tissues that have received an adequate supply of oxygen.
Respiratory
Related to the process of breathing and the exchange of gases, particularly oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Skeletal
Relating to the skeleton or bones of the body.
Synovial
Refers to joints that have synovial fluid, allowing smooth movement between bones.
System
A group of organs and tissues working together to perform specific functions in the body.
