Absolute majority
Candidate achieves absolute majority (above 50%) in an election.
Absolute monarchy
A system of government where a single person rules. The monarch is above the law and governs in an appropriate matter.
Access
The ability for individuals to exercise their rights in the legal system.
Accountability
Political accountability is the requirement that all public officials should be answerable to people.
Acquittal
The judgment of a court that a person charged with a crime has not been proven guilty
Act of parliament
A legislative bill that has passed required steps in parliament.

A guilty deed or act

The debate that follows the governor generals speech
Adjournment debate
The debate concerning the motion to suspend the sitting of parliament to another day

The act of judging two competing points of view
