Scapegoat
Someone on whom to heap the blame for others’ problems or mistakes
Resistance
The act or an instance of resisting
Refugee
A person who has fled from some danger or problem
Racism
Abusive or aggressive behaviour towards members of another race
Prejudice
Intolerance of or dislike for people of a specific race, religion
Police state
A state or country in which a repressive government maintains control through the police
Pogrom
A violent riot aimed at massacre or persecution of an ethnic or religious group
Persecution
The act of oppression, harassment, or maltreatment, esp. because of race, religion
Nazi Party
National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP). A political party that existed in Germany from 1920-1945
Liberation
To be set free from oppression, control or imprisonment
Holocaust
Term used for the Nazi massacre of the Jews during World War II
Ghetto
A section of a city where Jews had to live
Genocide
The killing of an entire cultural or racial group
Final Solution
The code name used by the Nazis to refer to the plan of mass murder of the Jews
Extermination Camp
A camp where people are imprisoned and killed
Euthanasia
The act of killing someone painlessly, esp to relieve suffering from an incurable illness
Eugenics
The study of methods of improving the quality of the human race
Discrimination
Unfair treatment of a person, racial group, minority
Dehumanisation
To deprive of human qualities
Concentration Camp
A camp in which people are detained or confined, usually under harsh conditions
Auschwitz
The largest concentration and extermination camp.
Anti-Semitism
Hateful feelings, attitudes and actions towards the Jews
Adolf Hitler
German politician and leader of the Nazi Party
