25
A disciple will really grow spiritually when they?
Take a LEAP OF FAITH and trust their discipler
26
I. Premis of DR In 1 Thess 2:6-8 says?
Paul shared the GOSPEL AND his life Paul fostered close, meaningful and intimate relationships
27
II. Purpose of DR Mark 1:16-18 says?
Jesus gives these fishermen a purpose for their life— to fish for men —- this goes beyond evangelism and baptism, to include discipling after baptism.
28
In John 3:22 says that
Jesus spent time with His disciples as they baptized -Jesus was teaching them how to make difference in people’s lives
29
There is nothing more rewarding than bonding through partnering in the Gospel
Disciplers can hurt their relationship by not allowing their disciples to grow up
30
III. Pace of DR In LUKE 6:39-40 pertains
A sign of maturing discipling is someone who can admire the good things in his discipler and not be critical of their weakness and shortcomings - Disciples need to appreciate their Mother or Father in the faith
31
Disciplers are the spiritual ceiling of their disciples
Because they are the “ pace-setters”
32
In Corinthians 11:1 says
-you must call people to imitate the christ-like traits in your life - it is quite humbling when you allow someone to imitate you as the closer one gets, the more apparent your weakness and shortcomings
33
In 1 CORINT 4:15-17
In the Corint church, had many problems and Paul’s solution was simply call them to imitate him, by imitating Timothy . - This also allowed Paul to call” every church everywhere” to the exact same” doctrine and life
34
III. Pace of DR. What is the sermon tips?
1. Preach your weaknesses 2.Share from time to time the history of your congregation - never forget that half of the OT is history and more than half of the NT is history
35
How does someone transform in discipling?
Trust comes before challenge, then after the challenge there is growth, which produces greater trust and the acceptance of greater challenges.
36
POSITION TO CHALLENGE YOUR DISCIPLING RELATIONSHIPS
1. Encouragement 2. Corrections and Rebukes 3. Godly visions 4. Disappointment
37
IV. PTC Discipling relationships How does someone transform in discipling?
Trust me comes before challenge, then after the challenge there is growth, which produces greater trust and the acceptance of greater challenges
38
How did Jesus give challenges?
1. Encouragement: Matt 16:13-17 One of the ways, Jesus that gave was through encouragement Encouragement requires love and forethought
39
Do your disciples see you as a great encourager?
2. Corrections and Rebukes - Matt 16:21-23— peter is strongly rebuked by Jesus for worldly thinking
40
In 2 timothy 3:16-17 what’s the difference of rebuke and correction?
Rebuke- given when someone does something wrong knowing it was wrong Correction- given when someone does something wrong but they did not know was wrong
41
Are you afraid of rebuking?
Conflicts avoiders are poor discipler. The Scriptures need to be opened at almost in every discipling time.
42
3. Godly visions Matt 16:18-19
Jesus had vision for Peter to have the keys of the kingdom
43
We need to build up and express godly visions for every disciple for what they can become
44
Everyone needs their disciple to believe in them.
Every disciples needs Kingdom dreams.
45
4. Disappointment Luke 10:41
-Jesus expresses disappointment to Martha for not choosing what is more important -It was done very lovingly and thus was very powerful
46
In Luke 22: 31
Jesus expressed dissapointment to Peter about his worldly desire to be the greatest -He even uses Peter’s old name, Simon, to prophesy Peter’s future denial and falling away
47
4 ways Jesus Challenged His Disciples?
1. Encouraging 2. Rebuking and Correcting 3. Godly visions 4. Disappointment
48
5. Perserverance John 21:15-19
Jesus questions Peter’s love for him 3 times, perhaps to remind Peter that he denied Jesus 3x
49
What are 3 words. For “ love “ in Greek
1. EROS- romantic, sexual 2. PHILEO-friendship; brotherly affection 3. AGAPE- self- sacrificing; selfless
50
When Jesus asked Peter if he loved (agape) him “more than these”
He was referring to the fishes and the nets— Peter’s old life which he had returned
51
There will be a time when our disciples will fail and sin terribly, perhaps even fall away.
That is our time to be there for them and persevere until we get them to Heaven— Fruit that will last
52
It is helpful and humbling to rememeber that we all messed up
And always God forgives us
53
In Thessalonians 2:11-12, 19-20
- Paul encouraged , comfoted and urged.. the Thessalonians disciples like a father - Disciples should be our hope, joy, crown and glory after the Lord
54
Hardship should never distract us from getting people to Heaven
As this is the ultimate goal for every disciple. It is not about baptizing and getting people into the Kingdom, but seeing that they make it to end.
55
The challenge of the lesson is to Glorify God
By bearing much fruit.. fruit that will last.
56
