Glomerular Filtration Flashcards
Net Filtration Pressure
Combination of all forces that regulate how much plasma is filtered into the nephron. If net filtration is positive, plasma will be filtered into bowman’s space. If negative value, plasma will not filter out of glomerular capillaries into Bowman’s Space
Hydrostatic pressure of Glomerular Capillaries
(PGC) pressure of blood flowing through glomerular capillaries
55mmHg
Pressure pushes outward works with colloid osmotic pressure of Bowman’s Capsule
Colloid osmotic pressure of glomerular capillaries
piGC
pressure created due to prescence of protein.
Force pushes inward works with hydrostatic pressure of Bowman’s Capsule (PBC)
Pressure of fluid already in Bowman’s Capsule, creates back pressure (PBC)
inward force that works with piGC glomerular capillaries colloid osmotic force
Hydrostatic pressure of Bowman’s capsule
Net filtration pressure formula
Net filtration= (PGC+piBC) - (PBC+piGC)
Net filtration= (PGC - PBC - piGC)
Net filtration = 10 mm Hg
Glomerular Filtration Rate (definition)
Amount of fluid/solutes filtered per unit time into Bowman’s space from the glomerular capillaries
Influences on GFR
