Globe
A drawing that shows the features of an area.
Map
Distance east or west of the prime meridian measured by a set of imaginary lines, or meridians that run north and south from the earth’s poles.
Longitude
The directions north, south, east and west.
Cardinal directions
Distance north or south of the equator, measured by a set of imaginary lines, or parallels, that run east and west around the earth.
Latitude
A place in relation to another
Relative location
The longitude and latitude of a place.
Absolute location
Shows the relationship between distances on a map and actual distances
Scale
Something that stands for something else on a map.
Map symbol
Tells what each symbol on a map stands for
Map key
A map that shows divisions such as boundaries, cities, and capitals
Political map
A map that shows natural features such as lakes, and mountains
Physical map
A map that shows height above sea level
Elevation map
A map that shows information about the past
Historical map
Map that shows how a particular feature, such ass oil, is spread over an area.
Distribution map
