- Issues with rapid migration to megacities with overcrowding as provision of housing and services is exceeded by numbers
- Long hours and exploitative work means social problems occur

- Places where industry and services locate have benefits through outsourcing of TNCs
- Jobs created, infrastructure improved and wealth can trickle down through the region and communities leading to social benefits
- Places loosing industry will have a decrease in population with better health and environment
