What is globalisation?

A
  • …a set of processes that are changing the nature of human interactions by intensifying interactions across boundaries that have up to now served to separate individuals & populations… (Lee, 2002)
  • Complex set of processes which increase interconnectedness and interdependence between countries and people…(Buse, Mays and Walt, 2005)
  • Process through which sovereign national states are criss-crossed and undermined by transnational actors (Beck, 1999)
  • ‘… a stretching of social, political and economic activities across frontiers such that events, decisions and activities in one region of the world can come to have significance for individuals and communities in distant regions of the globe…’ (Held et al 1999)
