  • increasing amounts of trade of goods across international borders and countries taxing goods such as alcohol and cigarettes = increasing amounts of smuggling of high taxed products
  • Organised criminal network such as the McMafia smuggle cigarettes and alcohols from countries where they are cheaply produced to countries where they are highly taxed e.g. the UK
