Q

The changing distinction between high and popular culture (post modernist view)

A

Post modernists, argue that the distinction between high culture and popular culture is weakening as media and cultural products are becoming available to everyone.

such changes enable original music and art to be accessible from their own homes without going to special institutions like theatres or art galleries. people can now “pick and mix” from either popular or high culture.

strinati - elements of both cultures are being incorporated into the other culture meaning there is no longer a distinction between cultures

technology has made it possible for mass audiences to see and study high culture products - people can see Mona Lisa online
