global warming Flashcards
How does a volcanic eruption affect climate?
Volcanic ash can reflect the solar radiation and causes the temperatures to drop
What is global warming?
a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide
How does water affect temperature of air
changes the temperature the air would be over it
relationship of fossil fuels and greenhouse effect
increase amount of greenhouse gases in atmosphere and increases surface temps of Earth
relationship between precipitation and elevation
increase in precipitation at higher elevation
What is the greenhouse effect?
the trapping of the sun’s warmth in a planet’s lower atmosphere
How does greenhouse effect relate to global warming
increases the natural warming of the surface of earth, melts ice, raises sea levels and causes flooding
how burning fossil fuels influence global temperatures
Burning fossil fuels create higher levels of Carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere of Earth. They absorb heat and lead to warmer temperatures. This could increase sea levels, hurricane occurrence and intensity, more floods and storms in coastal areas, property damage and loss of life, and habitat life for a variety of species.
