Glenoidhumeral joint Flashcards
Glenohumeral Joint
multiaxial synocvial ball and socket joint
articular surface
head of the humerous 2/5 of sphere facing superiorly ,medially and posteriorly. covered in hyaline cartilage
To the glenoid fossa faces anteriorly laterally and slightly superiorly
deepened by the glenoid labrum
1/3rd of humeral head articulaes to glenoid fossa
capsule
loose cylindrical sleeve surrounds the joint
inferior fold allows greater freedom of movement during abduction
stregthened by glenohumeral ligaments and rotator cuff muscles
synovial membrane
lines the capsule attaching to the articular surface
communicating bursae
Superior middle and inferior glenohumeral ligaments
glenoid process to the lesser tubercle of humerous and inferior
transerse humeral ligament
bridges the greater and lesser tubercle
coracohumeral ligament
blends with the capsule
lateral border of root of coracoid process to the greater tubercle blending with supraspinatus tendon
coracoacromial ligament
fibro-osseous arch from coracoid process to acromion process over the head of the humerous
