What was the aim of the study?
To test the hypothesis that short and term long term are separate memory stores
What was the 1st method?
240 men from the army
Words presented at different rates
3 seconds apart and 2 seconds apart
What was the 2nd method?
Participants presented with word list
Asked to count outloud for either 10 or 30 seconds
Results from the 1st method?
That participants pressnted with words at a 3 seconds rate remembered the first words better
They were able to rehearse the first words more
What were the results from the 2nd method?
That the participants that counted for 30 seconds rather than 10 remebered less words as they werent able to rehearse as well
