Q

Endocrine glands

A

Secrete directly into blood
secrets hormones

Example

  • pituitary gland
  • thyroid gland
  • parathyroid gland

All epithelial cells secrete the hormones in the gland

Q

Exocrine

A

Secrete into location or region of body via duct secrete mostly enzymes or lubricants

Examples

  • Salivary gland
  • Pancreas
  • Mammary l
  • sweat glands
  • Sebaceous
  • Lachrymal

Only cells at apex secrete

Q

Branching or elongation

A
  • FGF10 released by immaturefibroblasts (mesenchymal stem cells)
  • epithelial cells move towards the signal

Two different fates:

  1. Tubule elongation (growth factor one active)
  2. Tubule branching (growth factor 2 active)
