What is freeze-thaw weathering?
When water get in between rocks and freeze
and continue doing this until the rock falls off
What is Plucking?
Plucking is when rock becomes loose from freeze-thaw weathering and takes it down the glacier
What is abrasion?
When rocks flowing down the glacier scrape along the glacier bed taking more rocks
kinda like sandpaper
What are Arêtes?
Narrow steep ridges that form when two glaciers flowing in parallel valleys erode sides of their valley
What are pyramids peaks
Peaks that are formed with 3+ sides
What are corries?
A hole in the mountain usually filled with water
What are the differnt moraines?
And what are they?
Lateral moraine(2):
Material left on both sides of the glacier
Medial moraine:
Material deposited in the middle of the glacier
Terminal moraine: material despoited at the end and where the glacier melts
What is morain
Any material carried or moved by the glacier
What is an erratic?
A stop moved by a glacier that was left in a completely wrong environment
What is a ribbon lake?
A long thin lake found in the bottom of the valley
What is a drumlin?
An outcrop of hard resistant rock that was not eroded by the glacier
