made of snow -> pushed/ compressed into large thickened ice masses
As well as snow what do glaciers also contain
Rock and sediment
How are they distributed
unevenly and in cold places
What is an alpine glacier
glacier formed on mountain sides
they move down slopes through valleys
What is a continental ice sheet
A spread out glacier which covers large areas

the wearing away of rock, stones and soil by rivers, wind or glaciers
deposition meaning
to drop material
e.g waves deposit sand and small stones to form beaches
abrasion meaning
the process of scraping or wearing something away.
plucking meaning
removing something from it’s place
what threat is melting ice sheets will cause
it would cause the sea level to rise and then flooding,
why will some people be threatened by glaciers
global warming
floods
houses could be in danger
tourism- leading to the population being sparse
