Glacier Flashcards
Glaciation
The process of ice advancing covering large areas of land
Glaciers form
Form when Snowfall exceeds melting.
The heat and pressure from the mass cause a slight melting which lubricates the bottom of the glacier.
gravity pulls it down making it flow
Glacier and the ice age
The have been 4 at least for ice age been here for in the past 2.5 million years
Glaciation and canada landforms
Glacial can have erosional strip away or removing material and depositional effects. (Adding material)
Erosion effects of glaciatiion
Glaciers are responsible for changing drainage patterns and creating new lakes and streams
Depositional effects of glaciation fall into two categories
1.Depositing by ice
2.Depositing by water
Depositional effects of glaciers depositing by ice
-glacial till:debris, such as loose sediments and rocks, that are collected and deposited by glaciers
