What is a glaciated landscape?
A
- Glaciated landscapes include any landscapes that are being affected by the action of glaciers.
- This course also includes ‘post-glacial landscapes’ which do not have glaciers currently acting on them but still have distinctive features from their presence.

What is a glacier?
A
Glaciers are often described as ‘rivers of ice’. They are huge bodies of ice and officially become glaciers (as opposed to blocks of ice) when they start flowing.

Where do we find current glaciated landscapes?
A
Permanent glacier ice currently covers 10% of the Earth’s land surface, including places like Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard, Alaska, Canada, Russia, the Himalayas, the Andes, Antarctica, the Alps, the Rocky Mountains.
