What is GIS?
A way of using digital maps to show specific pieces of geographical information we are interested in.

What is raster data?
Made by a series of pixels. Mainly used to make backgrounds for other data
What is vector data?
Consists of a series of points that join to make lines. Used to show features on a map
Give an example of what raster data would be used for?
Land usage, elevation
Give an example of what vector data would be used for?
Shops, houses, roads
Give 3 advantages of GIS
Compact storage, Layers make it easy to alter, easily backed up
Give 3 disadvantages of GIS?
Can be lost by not saving, may require advanced skills, data privacy.
