Order of digestion (organs):
Mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, out the booty
Name 4 molecules that contribute to the acidity of the stomach:
gastrin, pepsin, HCL, intrinsic factor
What is the average pH level of the stomach?
- range of 1-3
What does the liver make???
Bile
What does the gallbladder do???
Stores and secretes bile into the duodenum.
2 important jobs of bile include:
- digestion and absorption of fat & fat soluble molecules.
2. waste product removal
Pancreatic molecules include:
bicarbonate, trypsin, chymotrypsin, pancreatic lipase, amylase
Right upper quadrant includes:
small bowel, liver, gallbladder, pylorus, duodenum, head of pancreas, ascending colon, transverse colon, right adrenal gland, portion of right kidney
Right Lower quadrant:
small bowel, cecum and appendix, portion of ascending colon, lower pole of right kidney, right ureter
Left upper quadrant:
small bowel, left lobe of liver, spleen, stomach, body of paancreas, transverse and descending colon, left adrenal gland, portion of left kidney
Left lower quadrant:
small bowel, sigmoid colonportion of descending colon, lower pole of left kidney, left ureter
Achalasia:
dysmotility of the esophagus
Hemoptysis:
spitting up blood.
