G.I hormones Flashcards
CCK (Cholecystokinin) Where is it produced and what does it do?
Duodenum, jejunum, ileum, colon
Causes bile release from gall bladder and pancreatic enzyme release
Secretin - Where is it produced and what does it do?
Duodenum
Pancreatic enzyme release
Gastrin - Where is it produced and what does it do?
G Cells in stomach antrum
PC and HCL release
Gastrin releasing hormone - Where is it produced and what does it do?
Vagus nerve
Activates G cells in stomach antrum
Glucagon - Where is it produced and what does it do?
A cells in islets of langerhans
Increase glucose production and glycogen breakdown in the liver
Guanyin - Where is it produced and what does it do?
Ileum Colon
Increases fluid absorption in colon
Somatostatin - Where is it produced and what does it do?
D cells in stomach/duodenum
Delta cells of Islets of langerhans
Decrease G cell activity and Pancreatic activity and bile release
Increases GI absorption and decreases secretions
Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) - Where is it produced and what does it do?
ENS neurons
Relaxes SI muscle and increases SI and pancreatic secretions
