Water diarrhoea
After travelling
Incubation time 12-24 hours
Short history of severe vomiting after eating creamcakes
Pathogen?
S aureus
diarrhoea for a couple weeks
Pathogens?
Amoebiasis and giardiasis
Bloody diarrhoea and vomiting abd abdo pains
Shigella
Type of e. Coli which causes bloody diarrhoea?
E coli 0157
Cholera presentation
Does it affect travellers?
Profuse watery diarrhoea
Often weight loss due to severe dehydration
Doesnt usually affect travellers
Campylobacter presentation
Flu like prodrome, abdo pain, fever, diarrhoea (can be bloody)
Complications of campylobacter infection
GBS
C diff abx
first episode- oral vanc… if this doesnt work with oral fidaxomicin… if this doesnt work oralv anc and IV met
recurrent infection within 12 weeks- oral fidaxo
after 12 weeks- oral vanc
if life threatening infection- iv metro and oral vanc
