Benefits of GI
A
Not as much moisture control required as composite
Can bond directly to enamel and dentine - no etch and bond required - less damage to tooth structure
Fluoride-releasing
No contraction on setting
Good thermal properties

Name some reasons why GI is not as good as composite?
A
Poorer bond than composite - 5MPa vs 20MPa
Poorer wear resistance
Poor tensile strength
Lower hardness
Higher solubility than composite - long-term erosion by acids
