tx for unstable acute diverticulitis

tx for stable acute diverticulitis with abscess less than 4 cm
IV abx, if failure to improve, percutaneous drainage
sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy contraindicated during acute diverticulitis can lead to
colonic perforation, recommend in 6-8 weeks after evaluate for malignancy
RUQ pain, fever, jaundice (charcot triad) and new-onset confusion and septic shock (Reynolds pentad)

Whipple disease (neuro findings are oculomasticatory myorhythmia)
transferrin saturation and ferritin level that increases likelihood of hemochromatosis
increased
enlarged liver with S4 gallop, peripheral edema, arthritis, polydipsia and polyphagia, erectile dysfunction concerning for
hemochromatosis
small volume hematemsis after vomiting
