أَقُولُ لَهُ ثَورٌ يَقُولُ احْلِبْهُ
The monkey, in the eyes of its mother, is a gazelle! [Beauty is in the eye of the beholder]
القِرْدُ فِي عَيْنِ أُمِّهِ غَزَالٌ
All of it is soap to the Arabs! [When someone is explaining something very technical/ intricate and you don’t understand. ]
كُلُّهُ عِنْدَ العَرَبِ صَابُونٌ
He threw him in the river, with his hands tied behind his back, saying, “Whatever you do, don’t get wet!” [When someone gives you an impossible task]
أَلْقَاهُ فِي اليَمِّ مَكْتُوفًا وَقَالَ لَهُ
إِيَّاكَ إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَبْتَلَّ بِالمَاءِ**
