how often do you do USS for gestational diabetic women?
/4 weeks to assess foetal size
When BS >7 what do we give in gesttional diabetes
Metformin + insulin
if BS <7 what do we do?
diet / exercise ======> metformin
What type fo test do we do for gestational diabetes? And at what week?
OGTT at 24-28wk
How does the OGTT work?
fast 12 hrs measure BG
take 75g glucose drink => measure in 2 hours BG
What are the normal blood tests results?
5-6-7-8
<5.6 non fasting
<7.8 OGTT
If there is risk of gestatioinal diabetes with the risk factors, what do we give?
5mg folic acid => 12 weeks
When do we do retinopathy screening in gestational diabetes (2)
8-10wks + 28wks
What should we do post birth for gestational diabetes?
Lower insulin dose after birth to prevent hypo
monitor baby for hypoglycaemia as “they’re used to hhigh blood sugards and can struggle => hypo”
Is a gliclazide CI in pregnancy?
Yes
Can i still have my gliclazide for breast feeding?
no
