  • Many chronic diseases are caused by a short list of risk behaviors:
  • Tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
  • Poor nutrition, including diets low in fruits and vegetables and high in sodium and saturated fats.
  • Lack of physical activity.
  • Excessive alcohol use.
