-economic- Americans bought cars, electrical equipment, clothing - couldnt afford it anymore so German factories closed down - many lost jobs
- trouble US banks demanded money back that lent to germany after WW1. German banks tried to reclaim money from businesses but couldn’t do went bankrupt

-promised better life and higher status and higher prices

-communists wanted to take over which scared the middle class and wealthy as they didn’t want to lose wealth and position
-communists were anti religion which scared churchgoers
- Hitler promised to fight communists and so gained support
