Yellow Star of David
Jews wore this to identify themselves: stars were sewn in their clothing
Brown Triangle
were used to identify gypsies (also called Roma); Gypsies were viewed as outcasts
Purple Triangle
Was for Jehovah’s witnesses; Jehovah’s Witnesses wouldn’t conform to Nazi society- they wouldn’t serve in the military, recognize Hitler as Fuehrer, or salute Nazi flag
Pink Triangle
represented homosexuals; In Hitler’s Germany, one goal was to reproduce, homosexuals can’t do this; Therefore, they don’t fit into Hitler’s Germany
Green Triangle
represented the habitual criminal; If the criminal was Aryan, he would be receive better treatment
Red triangle
represented political prisoners; These people were imprisoned solely for political choice; If it wasn’t Nazi party they were jailed
Black Triangles
represented the physically and mentally handicapped; Even if they were Aryan, they were a drain on society; These people didn’t make it to concentration camps- they were killed- women, men, childeren
Blue triangle
represented the asocial prisoner; basically a category for people found guilty on some charge by Gestapo who didn’t fit into other categories
