How do you form the past participle of a regular german verb?
Add ge- to the front and add -t to the back after removing the ending.
What is a weak verb in german?
Verbs that never change their stems. They always end in -en in their infinitive.
How would you write out the verb spielen (to play) in the present tense?
ich spiele – I play
du spielst – you play
er spielt – he plays
sie spielt – she plays
es spielt – it plays
wir spielen – we play
ihr spielt – you play
Sie spielen – you play
sie spielen – they play
When you remove the -en from a weak verb and see that it ends in -d or -t what do you do?
Add -e- between the stem and the du, er and ihr endings
What are strong verbs?
Verbs which do not follow the weak pattern for a certain tense.
For Strong verbs which change in the du and er forms, what are the common changes?
Adding an i (like lesen -> du liest)
Adding umlauts (fahren -> du fährst)
Swap e for i (vergessen -> du vergisst)
What is a reflexive verb?
A verb where the subject is the same as the object.
