Gerald Croft Flashcards
1
Q
We are respectable citizens and not criminals
A
This is ironic as how he treated Daisy Renton can be seen as immoral and possibly criminal He believes he is above the others and especially the inspector by the way he is speaking.
2
Q
The most important person in her life
A
He admits he liked the power he had over Daisy when she was his mistress. This shows the poor treatment of women in the Edwardian era as it was deemed normal for a man of high class to use women for power.
3
Q
What girl… four or five different girls
A
We can see Gerald as very dismissive as he does not care about Daisy Renton and the issues she faced instead all he cared about was himself making him a hypocrite.
