nation
a large population that have strong bonds of identity which shares the same culture, language, traditions, etc and are confined to a single geographical area. eg japan, france, egypt
territorial dispute
disagreement about who controls a particular territory. eg kashmir conflict
sovereignty
complete authority of the government over the area and its people
territorial integrity
states exercise their soverignty within a specific territory with boundaries which have been established by international law
state apparatus
set of institutions and organisations through which state power is achieved. eg police, emergency services
nation state
state that has sovereignty over a single nation
norms
universally accepted standard of behaviour for states based on morals and customs
intervention
international organisation act to resolve conflicts, challenges and crisis in other states
