geometry #7 Flashcards
regular tessellation
a repeating pattern of congruent regular polygons that completely covers a plane with no gaps or overlaps
rotational symmetry
a figure that can be rotated around a point by an angle less than 360 so that the image consides with the preimage, has rotational symmetry
semiregular tessellation
a repeating pattern formed by two or more polygons in which the same number of each polygon, occur in the same order at every vertex, and completely covers a plane with no gaps or overlaps
symmetry
the transformation of a figure such that the image concides with the preimage
tessellation
a pattern of plane figure that completely covers a plane with no gaps or overlapping
translation symmetry
a figure has translation symmetry if it can be translated along a vector so that the image concides with the preimage
vertical angle
the nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines
triangle
a three sided polygon
2 column proof
a style if proof in which the statements are written in the left column and the reasons are written in the right column
transversal
a line that intersects two or more coplanar lines at different points
