A group of islands closely scattered in a body of water.
Archipelago
A body of water partially surrounded by land.
Bay
A deep, narrow valley with steep sides.
Canyon
A high point of land that extends into a river, lake, or ocean.

An area formed where a river slows to meet a larger body of water

Areas that receive very little precipitation.
Desert
A long, deep body of water that reaches far inland.
Fjord
A portion of the ocean that penetrates land.
Gulf
A narrow strip of land that connects two larger landmasses and separates two bodies of water.
Isthmus
A piece of land that is almost entirely surrounded by water but is connected to the mainland on one side.
Peninsula
A broad area of relatively flat land.
Plain
A flat, elevated landform that rises sharply above the surrounding area on at least one side.
Plateau
A narrow body of water that connects two larger bodies of water.
Strait
A freshwater stream that feeds into a larger stream or river.
Tributary
A depression in the Earth between hills.
