  • Nomadic lifestyle - moving with seasons to live, hunt and gather
  • Sustainable perspective- only taking what they need and making sure animals and plants can rejuvenate
  • Care of the land, knowing that it is a reciprocal relationship. They have a spiritual relationship with the country
  • Both cultures have been impacted negatively by the colonisation and it has interrupted their life style
  • Land rights and access to land is something that continues to be fought for
  • Oral history traditions- languages are being lost and therefore their history is being lost

Aboriginals are from Australia but scientists believe they might have travelled from Asia when the seas were low and easy to travel. It is the oldest living culture and is significant because of their unique languages, knowledge systems and beliefs.

A

the orang asli are from the peninsular of Malaysia and The Orang Asli culture is significant due to their long history of living in the deep jungles of Malaysia, dating back more than 60,000 years. They are distinct from the major ethnic groups in Peninsular Malaysia and have been historically marginalized in social, economic, and cultural matters. Their origins trace back to Yunnan or the northern part of Indochina, and they have a unique way of life, including constant villages and some agriculture.

only 3.2% of Australia’s population has identified as aboriginals or torris strait islanders and they can live Everywhere they can live in city’s to remote areas although almost half of them live in inner and outer regional areas. Between 2011 and 2021, Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population increased by 2.0% so the aboriginals are increasing because they have more rights and better living conditions to have children

the orang Asli accounts to 0.6% to 1% of Malaysia’s population and they can be found in all states of the country but they are mainly found in Kedah, Perak, Kelantan and Pahang states. the orang asli are decreasing in population because of the poverty and challenges they face create an unsafe and unhealthy environment for children

A

Aboriginals culture is full of dance, dream time, art and diversity although most include a deep respect for the elders of their tribe, each of their tribes had their own languages and beliefs about how the world came to be. They also have a deep connection to country.

A

Orang Asli were originally animists, a belief system that some still adhere to, but some also follow Christianity or Islam. Their way of life is strongly connected to nature, which is clear from the way they hunt with blowpipes, or from their remarkable handcrafting of wooden masks, for which the Mah Meri and Jah Hut tribes are especially famous.
