What are the 3 types of rocks?
Sedimentary, Igneous, Metamorphic
What are the characteristics of the rock types?
Sedimentary: They contain fossils, They typically come in layers
Metamorphic: They were once Sedimentary rocks of Igneous rocks but have been changed as a result of heat or pressure
How are the Sedimentary rocks formed?
Sedimentary: When pieces of rock have pilled up and is exposed to intense pressure forcing the rocks to merge
Examples Sedimentary rocks
Sandstone, Limeston, Shale
Examples of Igneous rocks
Granite, Basalt, Pumice
Examples of metamorphic rocks
Quartz, Marble, Phyllite
How are the Igneous rocks formed?
When got lava or magma cools of crystalizes
How are metamorphic rocks formed
Metamorphic: They were once Sedimentary rocks of Igneous rocks but have been changed as a result of heat or pressure
