Apparel
Clothes that are made and sold cheaply so people are encouraged to buy new clothes more often.
Fast Fashion
A factory where workers are paid very little and typically work long hours in very bad conditions.
Sweatshop
Any material such as cotton or oil, in its natural condition before it has been processed for use.
Raw Material
The system of people and things that are involved in getting a product from the place it is made to the person who buys it.
Supply chain
How, for example, an initial increase in jobs in a location will lead to more local spending, creating in turn more jobs and consequently more economic growth.
Multiplier effect
Middle income country; those starting to industrialise and grow wealthier such as Bangladesh.
MIC
Process by which economies and cultures grow closer and more interconnected by trade, the spread of technology and global media.
Globalisation
Using or taking something from a different culture without showing you understand or respect that culture.
Cultural appropriation
Selling goods (items) to the public normally from the shops.
Retail
Someone who affects or changes the way others behave.
Influencer
The clothes sold by one company, normally with a distinct style and in some cases carrying the logo of the company.
Clothing brands
High end fashion, exclusive and hand made using the best materials. Often serves to set trends replicated later on the high street.
Haute Couture
Using someone unfairly for your own gain.
Exploitation
Describes social (issues linked to people and their everyday lives) and economic (issues linked to money, wealth etc.)
